Alesd Home

The Alesd orphanage was started in 1997 by the Hungarian Reformed Church. 25 children now call the orphanage home. The director of the Alesd Home is Annamaria Gonczi, a retired children's doctor. Even though the children come from different families and backgrounds, they all have experienced similar hardships. Some have experienced abandonment and abuse, or simply a lack of care from their parents. Often the parents have trouble with alcohol. The pastors in the villages surrounding the Alesd Home were instrumental in getting the children placed in the orphanage. In the Alesd home the children are given love, shelter, food, clothing and an education. They are also taught about God, who loves and cares for them.
